KNOW JESUS

HOW CAN I KNOW JESUS?

The message of the Gospel is the primary message of the entire Bible. If you miss this, you miss everything. So it is important that you understand:

God's design

God created a perfect world, with no sickness, suffering, brokenness, or death. His design was for us to be in relationship with Him forever.

(Genesis 1:1, 26-31; John 6:40; 10:10)

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Genesis 1:1

26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. 29And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

Genesis 1:26-29

And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 6:40

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

John 10:10

Man's rebellion

Man chose to reject God’s authority, which broke our relationship with God. That rebellion brought consequences: guilt, judgment, a cursed world, physical and spiritual death.

(Genesis 2:16-17; 3:6-9; Isaiah 53:6; 59:2; Romans 3:23)

16The LORD God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; 17but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.”

Genesis 2:16-17

6When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. 7Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.
8They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?”

Genesis 3:6-9

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 53:6

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 3:23

God's solution

God sent His Son Jesus to provide the only way of salvation from our sins, by dying on the Cross in payment for our sins and rising from the dead.

(Acts 4:12; 1 Peter 3:18; John 14:6; Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Acts 4:12

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

1 Peter 3:18

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 14:6

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

3For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

1 Corinthians 15:3-4

Man's response

Forgiveness of sin and eternal salvation are given to all who will choose to follow Jesus, by repenting of their sin and trusting in Jesus alone to be their Savior and Lord.

(Psalm 32:5; 38:18; John 5:24; Acts 3:19; Romans 10:9-10)

I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

Psalm 32:5

For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.

Psalm 38:18

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

John 5:24

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

Acts 3:19

9that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

Romans 10:9-10

Are you ready receive this gift of salvation? If so, I invite you to open your heart to God and pray an honest, personal prayer of faith like this:

God, I confess to you that I am broken and have sinned against you. But I believe that Jesus died to pay for my sins. I am turning away from my sin and choose to place my trust in Jesus. I ask that you would forgive me of my sins and become the Lord of my life. Thank you, God! Amen!
