Vandalia Baptist Temple is a local congregation that has served our community for over 60 years. We are an unaffiliated Baptist church located just north of Dayton, Ohio. Rick Washburn Jr. grew up in Medellin, Colombia. He was saved at the young age of 5. Rick was called to ministry while in high school and began to preach at the age of 15. He went on to graduate from Arlington Baptist College in 1996 with a B.S. in Missions. He and his wife Megan then served as second-generation, church-planting missionaries for 11 years, both in Columbia and Spain. Rick has been serving as the Lead Pastor at VBT since 2007.
Associate Pastor of Student and Discipleship Ministries
Francisco is from Madrid, Spain, where he was born. He was saved at the age of 12 years old under the ministry of Baptist Missionary, Marvin Robertson who was from the States. At the age of 14 Francisco surrendered his life to full-time vocational ministry while at a summer camp. He then graduated from a Bible College in Madrid, Spain with a degree in Theology and Missions in 1992. Francisco has been serving at VBT as an Associate Pastor since 2015.
Caleb is from Dayton, OH despite having lived a large portion of his life around the country and the world, even as a Missionary kid in Germany. He was saved at the age of 20 on March 22, 2001, and was called to ministry shortly after, though he ran from this call. Eventually, however, Caleb surrendered to God’s call to preach when he was 32 years old. He then served as the Youth Pastor for 7.5 years at First Baptist Church Franklin, OH, and was ordained for Gospel Ministry on September 27, 2015. He graduated from Bethany Divinity College & Seminary with a Pastoral Ministry Degree in 2020. Caleb has been serving VBT as the Executive Pastor since the Spring of 2020.
Brandon is from Tipp City, OH, and was saved at the young age of 7. He later surrendered to vocational ministry as a middle school student at VBT and eventually would graduate from Cedarville University in 2020 with a B.A. in Worship, Youth Ministry, and Christian Education. He has been leading worship at VBT since 2017. Brandon became full-time as the Worship Pastor in May 2020 and was ordained for Gospel Ministry on August 16, 2020.
Children's Ministry Director
Megan is from New Carlisle, OH. She has attended VBT for most of her life and was saved at the young age of 8 years old. She was called to be a vocational missionary and surrendered to that call when she was 18 years old. She then went on to graduate from Arlington Baptist College with a B.S. in Biblical Studies in 1997. She and her husband, Rick then served as second-generation, church-planting missionaries for 11 years, both in Colombia and Spain. They then moved back to serve at VBT when Rick was called as Lead Pastor in 2007. She has been serving as the Children’s Ministry director since that time.
Vicki grew up on a dairy farm in upstate New York and was saved at the age of 12 while at the Word of Life Ranch in Schroon Lake, NY. She graduated from Herkimer County Community College with an Associates Degree in Medical Office Management. Vicki has been married to Keith since June 1978 traveling around the country until his retirement from the Air Force in 1994. Vicki began serving as the administrative assistant at VBT in October 2013 after raising and homeschooling her children.

Rick grew up in the Dayton and Vandalia area and was saved while attending a service at VBT on November 20, 1968, after he came home from serving in the Navy. He was serving in the Church when God began to call him to ministry. It was at this time that he surrendered to the call to ministry. He then attended the Bible Baptist Seminary in Arlington, Texas. This school later became known as Arlington Baptist College before he graduated in 1975. While in college God laid it on his heart to serve as a church-planting missionary in Colombia. He and his wife Jackie served there as missionaries out of VBT for 38 years and they returned to serve at VBT in 2013. Since that time, Rick helped found the Bridge Builders Bible Institute and has been leading the senior ministries.
